Robbie Jansen and the Sons of Table Mountain
The
last show was the biggest yet on Church Square and one of the most
attentive audiences. Great mix of local and tourist finally. Foodcourt
was a complete disappointment. Nomzamo didn't arrive, Cafe Wafa sold
oversized pies.
Robbie Jansen was the star act and the audience responded with eager
humility in his presence. Robbie was the only person through the series
that made use of the emergency medical services (he needed a saline
solution fix).
All the performers were great. We took some of the highlights of the free mic and made them paid, featured performers.
Full circle, from great launch to great close. The additional
publicity budget really gave the event clout. For the first time we had
street level publicity and that made all the difference. We also had
additional budget from the City of Cape Town Arts and Culture
department, which meant we could properly remunerate the artists.
