Overview
During
the course of the entire series, February 17 to April 16, Oppiestoep I
created 27 shows, and income for some 92 musicians.
It
also generated a collection of excellent
reference recordings that some of the acts are using to promote
themselves. Some of the recordings were good enough quality to be
released: some tracks recorded at the Maveriq show went onto their
debut album Igubu, released on Sunday 30 April.
It was also a
form of audit of the music scene - what combinations of musicians are
possible. Who has the material to handle a three hour solo show of
original material? Who are the musicians with the magic ideas? These
details can be found by exploring the shows, using the links on the
left hand side.
