ROBBIE JANSEN

Master saxophonist, singer and band-leader for more than 30 years, the choices Robbie has made over his life have led to some truly remarkable achievements. Recognized as one of the Cape’s leading entertainers, he has also been one of the main forces in developing the “Cape Jazz Style” and he received a Provincial Honours Award on Reconciliation Day in appreciation of his lifelong contributions to the Western Cape and beyond.

His most recent album, “Nomad Jez”, was nominated in the Best Jazz Album category in the 12^th Annual MTN SAMA Awards in 2006.

Robbie played this session with Jonathan Rubain on bass guitar and Kyle Shepherd on keys, both of whom appeared earlier in the series..

They played a few improvised standards, as well as originals of Robbie’s, to which he sang beautifully.
