Melanie, with her classical training, and years of jazz experience, made a welcome return to the Oppiestoep stage with her husband Gorm on guitar. She sang songs from her debut album ‘A zillion miles’, together with some beautifully arranged jazz standards. When you watch a performer as passionate and professional as Melanie, you can see why she was named best jazz vocalist for ‘Old Mutual Jazz Encounters’, why she graced stages with Sibongile Khumalo, Joe McBride and Gerald Veasley, and why her work deserves all the exposure it can get.
